Bunch of lemons — Photo by me — Lemons from our lemon tree. Juicy and organic, with a sour taste that transforms into a lovely lemon pie with the right ingredients. We hold the building blocks of life in our hands. At least most of them.

“Every ‘last year’ was better” has become a Greek proverb. Its underlying message is more negative than you might think, implying that the past was better than the future. I used to hear this phrase a lot during the holidays. It’s not a good way to begin, and it indicates that you don’t take responsibility for yourself, for your actions.

I never believed it. I believe that if you do the right things (for you), you can achieve great results in any area you want.

It is a two-fold world.

A happy point is when things are in balance. Within you and beyond.

Despite the ups and downs we experience in life, there is balance in everything. Although this balance may not be immediately apparent, it exists, nonetheless.

Looking back on the past can show disappointments, anger, and sadness, but it also has successes, fun, and adventures.

Bad things can happen, and it might take a while to get over them, but they don’t happen every day.

We won’t always be happy and content, but we can be satisfied more often.

Similarly, we won’t always be sad and upset, and it’s possible to find acceptance in situations that can’t be changed.

If something can be changed, however, it’s important to shift our focus to what we can do to make that change happen.

As the year-end is approaching, and I am in the phase of reviewing, I will be sharing some thoughts of mine and a few goals that arise.

Have you taken a moment to reflect on your experiences in 2023?
